In early 2015, Youtube has separately launched the Youtube Kids app that includes specially curated content just for Kids. Later, the company even integrated the Youtube Red so that the kids can watch the ads-free videos by paying some fee. Almost after two years after launching the services, now the Youtube for Kids app is finally made its way to India. The App is available for both Android and iOS users and is already downloaded by 10 million users along on Android.
YouTube Kids lets children search videos such as Little Krishna, ChuChu TV and others. The app’s UI consists of large images and easy navigation options to help kids. It also has voice search functionality so children can find videos by spelling their names out.
The app will be populated regularly with fresh content and new shows from top Indian YouTube content creators. This includes Kids TV, a new season of ‘Cat & Keet,’ a popular chase comedy from Toonz Animation, The Gummy Bear song in Hindi and a fresh season of Appu- The Yogic Elephant. Along with this, kids will be able to watch any other series they know or like.
Already available in 20 countries, YouTube also offers some parental control features so that parents can monitor what their kids are watching. The search settings of the app enable parents to specify the content they want the children to explore.
YouTube Kids comes with a built-in timer, which can be configured to limit the screen time for kids. When activated, it will alert the child that the viewing time is over. There is also a passcode feature which can be used to lock out settings and other parental controls.
